This will be the second in a series of events held by Barcelona www.barcelona.la ďOur original event benefiting the Blazers was designed out of a project for a course I was taking called the Self Expression and Leadership program, provided by Landmark Education. The first event represented so much generosity and compassion from the community I made a promise to have another in 6 months and include my other favorite cause Make A Wish, that is when the Valley Wine Festival was born,Ē said Alan Semsar Barcelona CEO.
The 26 year old Make A Wish Foundation www.wish.org , grants wishes to children who have life threatening illnessís. Wishes are granted at the rate of 1 wish every 41 minutes and include things like becoming a police officer, the first wish ever granted to owning a hot tub or an elephant. The granted wishes give the children newfound joy and hope.
The Blazers Youth Organization www.blazeryouth.org , founded in 1969 gives inner city children a place to grow and learn. Children that find themselves at the Blazerís youth center often have no other place to turn but the streets. Children and young adults from 6 Ė 24 have the chance at a future by learning valuable reading, writing, commitment, leadership, and academic skills. Participants of
Blazerís programs have gone from being in gangs to entering some of the countries most prestigious schools, UCLA, Harvard, and MIT.
Pre-Order tickets may be purchased at www.valleywinefestival.com for only $25 which includes wine sampling, food, and $20 in play money for the casino tables. Ticket prices at the door will be $30. Barcelona is located at 7733 Hayvenhurst Ave. Van Nuys, CA 91406.
